Glasses/Brille

- They had me on the operating table all day.
They looked into my stomach, my gall bladder, they examined everything inside of me.
Know what they decided?
I need glasses! - Joe E. Lewis

the best book of september

My Abandonment - Peter Rock-

'My Abondonment' is an amazing novel that tells the story of 14-year old Caroline who lives in the Oregon woods with her veteran father. It is a dark tale about life at the edge of society that deeply moved and disturbed me.
Peter Rock discusses love, survival, attachment and alienation through the eyes and voice of Caroline- a strong minded girl who is starting to question her father's authority and also starting to remember a life before her father took her with him to live a self-sufficent life.
This story of hope and identity made me remember what good writing can do and is by far the most impressive novel I have read lately.
(It also has an amazingly well-fitting cover...both tender and disturbing, to quote Mr.Diaz+ the perfect last sentence )

My Abandonment - Peter Rock-

                                                            Oh Dear Drea

http://ohdeardrea.blogspot.de/p/about.html
Oh Dear Drea is the blog by Drea, a vegan, a mom to one beautiful daughter and a (new) wife. She writes about food, family and spirituality. Her house, life and spirit seem flooded with light and we enjoy reading her thoughts (she happens to be an eloquent writer) and watching her celebrating her everyday life.
Her Mexico-inspired sense of style makes it easier to survive big-city-fall and brings back some sunshine into our days! For all that we are grateful.

                                                                          Love Taza

open10
http://lovetaza.com/2013/09/a-day-at-the-us-open/

Love Taza, by Naomi Davis, is definitely the most typical mommy-blog of all the blogs we read. It focuses on hipster-super-mom Naomi, who lives in NYC with her two beautiful kids and her handsome husband. They are a Mormon family, who enjoy an big city life and share pics of their everyday life (or probably rather the most beautiful moments of their everyday-life). Some might call it escapism, and they might be right, but looking at Naomi Davis's well-lit life brings joy to ours every week and we are overjoied about every little glimpse of her cute babies

elephantine: two for today
http://www.elephantineblog.com/2013/09/two-for-today.html

Elephantine is a blog by aspiring writer and jewelry designer Rachel. She writes a lot about writing (including so-called ficition Friday on which she shares some of her writing), but also shows some of life's beauty that inspires her. I love her sophisticated writing that matches the sophisticated design of her blog and love, love, love reading her thoughts on literature.

100th Post!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, we did it!
Wow, es ist vollbracht!

WE can not believe that it is already our 100th post!

WE startet at the end of May with a crazy idea and an fat cat! And in the middle of September we can call ourself bloggers and are about to post our 100th post!

To celebrate this success we made an awesome vegan choco/vanilla cake and had a nice brunch party with friends and of course Lasagno!

Here a little review of our favorite posts from the last three month:

- Time has been transformed and we have changed, it has advanced and set us in motion; it has unveiled its face, inspiring us with bewilderment and exhilaration. - Khalil Gibran

We started our Blog after my return from Spain... Bambi organized a huge bird-is-back-surprise-party for me and the foundation of or blog was built...

http://lasagnolove.blogspot.de/2013/05/bird-is-back.html

Followed by different vegan/vegetarian phases... which we or especially Bambi combined with a lot of vegan cakes...

http://lasagnolove.blogspot.de/2013/07/vs-first-birthday-special-one.html

Danach folgten verschiedene vegane/vegetarische Phasen...
welche natürlich im Backbereich umgesetzt wurden

We had some hurtful losses this year and need once more to remember my wonderful Grany, who died in the beginning of June...

http://lasagnolove.blogspot.de/2013/07/08041925-09072013.html

                                                         uns verlassen musste...

Even after sad days this year, we also celebrated wonderful, crazy and breathtaking moments... like the first exhibition -disziplin-discipline- of a friend of ours...

http://lasagnolove.blogspot.de/2013/07/disziplin-discipline.html

...and we made awesome new friends from all over the world...

http://lasagnolove.blogspot.de/2013/06/hike-trip.html

Really important for us is still the topic of veganism... yeah we know, it's hard to live vegan and it's not always working... but still talking about it is one of the most important things we have to do... just to keep the mind open!

http://lasagnolove.blogspot.de/2013/09/got-milk.html

the -fatcatconnection- hopes, that we can make your days a little brighter and happier!

We are so excited about the future!
Wir freuen uns auf die nächsten 100 Posts!

got milk?

During the last weeks, I thought a lot about many aspects of vegan life and for some reason cow milk seems the most troubling version of animal consumption to me.
We are the only animals that drink the milk of other mammals and also the only animals that drink milk after infancy.
Drinking cow milk seems to be a habit that produces only victims.
It's rather obvious how milk production is bad for cows and calves. Cows, such as humans and all other mammals, produce milk in order to feed their young, not out of generosity in order to make my latte macchiato more tasty.
A short documentary about dairy cows here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GzS8p727gvM

And apparently milk is, despite all the dairy lobby claims about calcium&co, not good for humans either:
http://saveourbones.com/osteoporosis-milk-myth/
http://naturalsociety.com/harvard-scientists-urge-stop-drinking-milk/
http://theweek.com/article/index/230735/5-ways-milk-doesnt-do-a-body-good

There most likely will be times when I will decide that the cheese on my pizza is more important than another beings happiness, but after learning and thinking about dairy production I might at least be willing to buy organic milk and reduce my consumption.

But probably we do not even have to read tons of articles about chemicals in commercial milk.
Maybe it's not that complicated. Maybe it's as simply as this: Cow milk is for calves, human milk is for babies. End of story.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GzS8p727gvM

http://saveourbones.com/osteoporosis-milk-myth/
http://naturalsociety.com/harvard-scientists-urge-stop-drinking-milk/
http://theweek.com/article/index/230735/5-ways-milk-doesnt-do-a-body-good

Ende.

Andalusia Roadtrip - Sevilla I

Es regnet wieder. Was könnten wir besseres tun an einem regnerischen Tag in good old Germany als

Rain again. What else can we do on rainy days in good old Germany... excepted sitting in bed with a cup of tea and scrolling through hundreds of pics from Sevilla this year.

If you have a rainy day too, just enjoy a little Roadtrip pics from sunny Sevilla.

... beautiful Sevilla we enjoyed every minute of you.

to be continued...
